September News

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live life without the simple luxuries? Things that in America aren’t even considered luxuries.... Power outages in Uganda are nothing new. However this past month, for those of us who HAVE the luxury of electricity and running water, we have spent days at a time with no power or water. We’ve been bathing 26 children in the dark and washing dishes outside because there is no water in the tap. Of course we adjusted our schedule to use the daylight wisely. Despite this obstacle we’ve still seen some GREAT things happen in the last month here at Restoration Children’s Home!

My health has improved greatly. Thank you for all of your prayers! For those of you who do not know, I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and put on an 8 month treatment plan. With the assistance of US AID’s TREAT program we were able to get all of the children tested for TB to ensure it had not spread. Everyone’s test was negative, PRAISE THE LORD!!

School started at the 1st of September. Many of you gave and we are so thankful that through YOU, God provided the school fees for our 6 school aged girls. Next term, in January, we will have 6 more children that will be ready to start primary school. For more information on how to sponsor a child for school, please contact us.

MEET THE CHILDREN!!

Paskazia Nakabugo is one of our sponsored school children. She is 8 yrs old and loves to laugh! Her mother died and her father abandoned her. She has done very well in school and is learning English quickly. She often interprets for us when we don’t understand something the younger children are trying to tell us. She is a joy to be around! For more information about Paskazia or for pictures please visit our myspace page at myspace/thedollgeners.com

We are joining forces with a local ministry called “Filling His Nets”. They are a mission organization based in the U.S, operating here in Jinja. God has also given them a heart for the orphans here in Uganda. With their connection to the US AID food program we received 7 cases of food for the orphanage this month! It was a tremendous blessing and we are so excited to see the great things God will do through this ministry!

We are still looking for a facility. Time is running out quickly as we have to be out of the current facility by Oct 10th. We have several houses in mind and are praying about the decision. Be praying for God’s direction and favor with the landlords.

The holidays are right around the corner and we are going to be teaching the children about thankfulness and the true meaning of Christmas. Sadly, as Americans, we tend to take for granted the holiday dinners, decorations and gifts. We would love nothing more than to give these children, perhaps for the 1st time, gifts to open on Christmas morning. If you are interested in helping with our Christmas fund, please email us.
